  5. The Manufacturing System includes these applications: Quotation, Order
  6. Processing, Inventory, Invoicing; Bills of Material & Routing; Materials
  7. Inventory & Purchasing; Job Cost & Tracking; Production Planning; Shop Floor
  8. Control; Material Requirements Planning, Tool Inventory; and all Financials
  9.  
  10. The Manufacturing System is designed for make to order, assemble to order, and
  11. make to stock manufacturers. These manufacturers include Fabrication, Machine
  12. Shops, Equipment Assembly, and Manufacturing Cells. The planning, scheduling,
  13. loading, starting, processing, and closing out of manufacturing activities is
  14. based on current customer job start and activity dates and quantities shown on
  15. the Master Production Schedule. The Master Production Schedule initiates Just
  16. in Time manufacturing methods. Just in Time reduces the time and cost involved
  17. in manufacturing by maintaining a minimum amount of work in process inventory,
  18. while managing valuable resources, consistent with a level operating
  19. schedule

  21. Just in Time provides a pull system which shows work centers what jobs need to
  22. be worked on next and when jobs are needed at the next work center. The Master
  23. Production Schedule provides the start date of the finished item while the Work
  24. Center Schedule provides the best possible start date for lover level
  25. components and operations. As the Master Production Schedule changes so do the
  26. start dates of related components and operations at each workcenter. Jobs are
  27. worked on at each work center as they are needed to meet higher level
  28. commitments and inventory at each work center is kept at a minimum.
